A shooting at McArthur Junction Saturday afternoon left Frank Lehman dead and George Ewing wounded. Michael Woolweaver and his sons Henry and Crabb were arrested after a brawl at the depot sparked by local option tensions. Lehman’s death followed an exchange where Henry fired, and Ewing was struck in the thigh. The trio is jailed for safety as tensions rise. Lehman left a wife and four children. Ewing is recovering and held in high regard.
A meeting was held at the Sleeper and Sayre office on Wednesday evening to advance Republican club organization across Athens County. Delegates aim to seat clubs in every precinct for effective campaign work.
Russell Robbins an inmate from Caldwell Ohio died on Tuesday. Undertaker Campbell arranged the shipment of the remains to his home.

The spectacular re-creation uses nearly five acres, a twelve thousand square yard Pompeii, buildings up to forty feet, Vesuvius at seventy five feet, and an artificial lake of over four million gallons. Prices range from 50 to 75 cents general to $5 for private Boxes with several seating options. reservations available via the Pompeian General Offices in Cincinnati.
A grove meeting near Sugar Creek Church is set for Friday August 21 with preaching at 10 am and 2 pm and evening services at 7 pm. A reunion of Athens circus five congregations will occur Sunday August 22 at 9 am, with a sermon by Rev. John W. Farrow at 10:30 am followed by the Lord’s Supper. Arrangements are by Elmer Harvey Elton Junod and Ernest LeMer. Public invitation extended.
The Monday morning K M train carried one hundred eleven Athens G A R members to the National Encampment in Detroit. The departure was at 6 30 a m and arrival reached Detroit at 5 30 p m.

Teachers Ada Hodges and others attend the National Teachers Association in Toronto with side trips to Quebec and other Dominion points.
