Meigs County Votes on Poor Relief Bond Issue
Meigs County commissioners set August 26 for a special election on a $35,700 poor relief bond issue. Bonds would be retired by a state tax on utilities over eight years unless repealed by the Legislature, then by real estate taxes. Relief officials say the issue is needed to avoid sharp cuts in relief work. The county has been allotted $22,000 by the State Relief Commission to cover costs for the rest of this year and January 1937.
