Canton Firemen End Strike Return To Work

Canton Ohio firefighters voted to return to duty after a strike that began January 1. The 189 members dropped the demand for a shorter week while continuing negotiations on nonfinancial issues. Judge Harold DeHoff had threatened contempt penalties. 83 firemen were later convicted for staying off the job. Chief Thomas Kilcullen praised the return and cautioned against future strikes.

Fire at Timberlanes in Salem Under Investigation
