Athens Bypass Plan Approved by City Groups
City groups approve a proposed Route 33 and 50 bypass aimed at easing traffic in Athens. Planning officials say the compromise plan links Route 33 with Route 50, preserves current highways, and shifts four lane arterials to reduce truck traffic and expand industrial sites near The Plains. A state study is planned for winter with a final decision next year.
