Dies In Crash Leaves Child And Aunt Hurt

Funeral plans are set for two year old Michael Ray Mayle of Sharpsburg Route 1 who died when his father's car left an Athens County road near Route 50A. His aunt Wanda Mayle age 18 was injured. The father Julius Mayle 26 was charged with excessive speed for conditions and will be arraigned May 2 in County Court.

A Toledo truck ran over a cardboard carton containing Edward Shiffler, 11, killing him. The accident marked Ohio’s first fatal crash of the weekend, with AP counting nine additional Ohio deaths from traffic and other causes, totaling 10.

Second victim dies in auto train crash at Good Samaritan

A week after an auto train crash in Zanesville, Albert James Scott 31 of Toboso died Saturday night at Good Samaritan Hospital. His nine year old son Kenneth was killed in the crash.

Seven Die As Boat Capsize Off Alki Point

A 43 foot pleasure craft Lois Ann capsized off Alki Point after leaving Tacoma with 12 aboard. Seven adults and children died, four others were rescued including Janet Wicks of Tacoma who survived with prayers and blankets after the boat tipped in choppy Puget Sound.

Soviets Deny Knowledge of Missing British Freighter Plane

The Soviet Union denies knowing about a large Avro Tudor four engine freighter missing near Soviet territory with 12 men and secret equipment aboard. British officials suspect bad weather pushed the craft into Soviet Georgia or Armenia during its Ankara to Bahrain route over Mus Turkey.
