Speed Seen in Gallipolis New Street Sign Project
Gallipolis officials outlined a fast tracked plan for new street signs at a Monday City Commission and Chamber of Commerce meeting. Legislation to create signs and amend the parking meter ordinance aims for action at the May meeting and to align with Rio Grande's Second Frontier event. The plan includes annual firing permits for a 50 fee, car stickers for enforcement, and a trial year in 1948. Community enhancement and cooperation with the school board were discussed, with legal questions delaying summer recreation details.

Attack on Ohio schools and constitutional tinkering
A Gallia County Viewpoint argues against flooding the Ohio constitution with school funding mandates. It warns that educators know needs best and frames petitions for a constitutional fixed level of state support as a dangerous overreach by business groups and demagogues. The writer urges readers to refuse to sign petitions to halt what he sees as a shift away from legislative control.
