Five Men Are Interviewed For Shawnee Marshal Post
Shawnee village council interviewed five men Tuesday night for a temporary night police officer post. The job is vacant after Marshal Louis Morgan, 62, asked for leave following the April 15 shooting of Richard J. Denny, 20, who died from a gunshot. Morgan faces murder charges, claims accident, as the arrest occurred during an attempted arrest on Main St. The council stressed the position is temporary night police, not village marshal, with the town lacking full police protection beyond sheriff and state patrol patrols.
