Commissioners Order Higher Rate on Hauls
Gallia County commissioners set a minimum wage of 14 cents per ton for the first mile of limestone hauls after finding the regular seven cents per ton mile unprofitable for one mile trips. The move follows hauling at Gillespie place in Green Township. They also donated ten acres along Chickamauga Creek for a relief garden and approved diverting 41,882 from the gasoline tax to relief funds. The board considered accepting State Relief Administration funds to cover laborer injury treatment at Holzer Hospital. Attendants Annette and Tom Harvey visited from Huntington. County Agent E. H. Reed and family stayed with relatives in McConnelville and planned a Cambridge conference.
