Joint Church and Lodge Share Building in Bishopville
A frame building on State Route 78 near Bishopville houses the Church of Christ on the first floor and the Masonic Lodge on the second since about 1870. The two groups, led by James Monroe Bishop and John T. Shepard, have continued to operate in harmony, with the lodge hosting gatherings such as the annual Strawberry Festival. The structure, built from native timber by up-and-down sawing, remains sturdy though needing minor repairs and stands along the Rim-of-the-World Road in southeastern Ohio.
