Sept 1 Target For Wells Date Set By City Council
City council, under suspension of the rules, passed an ordinance to obtain a license to drill test wells on state property and a related resolution. If tests on Athens State Hospital property succeed, two wells costing about 12 000 each may be drilled, potentially adding a million gallons daily. The city would assume liability for damages from drilling on state property and forward the ordinance to the state for license return.
