In Butte Montana the Neversweat mine clash left fourteen men seriously wounded and seven believed dying. Regular army troops from Camp Lewis were sent to Butte to help restore order as guards and police kept watch and a strike spread across Montana.
President Carranza moves to open a peace conference with Sonora revolutionary forces. Ignacio Pesqueira and Roberto Pesqueira travel from Mexico City to Sonora border via San Antonio to meet Governor De La Huerta with General Alvarado. At Nogales they join Gustav Espinosa Mirelos to form a peace commission under Finance Minister Luis Cabrera.
Middletown authorities report an automobile carried down the Miami River this afternoon with believed occupants drowned. The incident occurred near Dayton as responders search the waters and investigate the car’s occupants.
Two prisoners awaiting trial escaped by sawing through two steel bars in a police court in Cleveland. A third man was interrupted while escaping as officers arrived and pulled him back. The fugitives leaped from a grated window to a roof and then to the ground, eluding officers in the crowded downtown area. The trio were being held for a minor offense.
Ohio State University reports Colantha Bakker, a Holstein cow in the dairy department, yields six gallons of milk daily. Since March 1, 1912, she produced 100000 pounds of milk and 4310 pounds of butter, showcasing extraordinary dairy output.
The G A R announces a regular meeting for Saturday April 24 1920 at 1 o clock. Eli Rouch serves as Post Commander and will oversee important business sessions.
The Nebraska Democratic primary results from 994 precincts show William J. Bryan leading in the delegate race with Berge and the Hitchcock slate candidates Neville and Shallenbarger also strong. In the Republican side Hiram Johnson leads, General Wood second, Pershing third. Lancaster County favors Pershing. Senator Hitchcock appears to win the Democratic endorsement with little opposition.
The legislative committee of the Ohio state league of building and loan associations met in Columbus on April 28 to discuss taxation and other issues affecting associations. James Devine urged building and loan men to run for seats in the legislature. The afternoon session included talks with a lumber dealers committee on Ohio housing conditions.

Joplin Mo April 22 United States Senator James Reed aimed at the delegates at large post at Missouri's Democratic state convention today. Reed's opposition to President Wilson's league of nations fuels attempts to defeat him as 36 delegates to the national convention were to be named.
Paris reports indicate a split among allies as Lloyd George supports treaty modification and France resists enforcing the Versailles terms. Nitti and Matsui back Britain while Miller and Miller oppose, with talks touching Germany and potential Ruhr occupation and League limitations on Armenia.

In Rochester on April 22 James O'Dell testified he and his wife Pearl killed Edward J Kneip after Kneip attacked him on a lonely road. He said Pearl struck Kneip with a file while he struck with a revolver breaking it, and that they later cut off Kneip’s clothes to hide his identity. He denied any intent to kill.
Lincoln Nebraska April 22 Senator Hiram Johnson today maintained his lead in returns from Nebraska's presidential preferential primary with strong showing across early tallies.
At San Remo the allied premiers discuss the Turkish treaty as the Adriatic settlement is delayed to May in Paris. A Meander valley garrison of 120000 is deemed necessary to hold the river region for Smyrna, raising questions on Greece’s ability to sustain such forces. Experts warn that enforcing terms in Atolia and Chila would require a large allied intervention and major costs.

He sat on a chair and played violin with his remaining arm while using a mouth organ and a zither as accompaniment. He manipulated the zither with his feet and used a wire mouth organ rig, with the bow held by his stump to draw the bow across the violin. The display drew a notable crowd.
Detroit April 22 United States Attorney John F Kinnane said he would appeal a federal judge s ruling postponing price fixing under the Lever act He had sought a milk price cut from 16 to 14 cents a quart and will pause prosecutions of alleged profiteers until the Supreme Court rules on the Tuttle decision
New York April 22 members of the General Managers committee of the railroads in the New York district remained firm in their refusal to take back outlaw strikers without loss of seniority rights. The railroad managers announced passenger traffic practically normal on all lines and freight rapidly improving.
Washington reports indicate bread prices will rise again as flour and wheat quotations climb. The Agriculture Department notes a short 1920 crop worldwide, with factors like the dissolution of the Grain Corporation and foreign exchange fluctuations likely shaping prices and market volatility. The government also confirms a 150 million bushel 1919 carry over, much of it low grade.
A men's dinner is set for six on Friday followed by Dr. Whallon delivering the address at the church in Zanesville. An illustrated lecture is planned Sunday evening by Rev. Frank Colvin of Columbus, offering a second program at the same congregation.

Detours may last until Saturday and through traffic between Athens and Nelsonville remains interrupted with limited passenger transfer options.
1920 census figures released in Washington show Athens city population at 6418 while Nelsonville remains the county’s largest city with 6440 residents. Athens gained 955 people since 1910 a 17.5 percent rise, yet did not surpass Nelsonville's size.
Division Engineer Graham and Bridee Engineer Elwell of the state highway department are in Athens county to review state aid road matters. They will inspect the Jerseyville Meigs route now re surveyed and expected to be ready for selling. They will also assess the Circle Hill Floodwood payne project nearing completion and the Trimble township survey to the Magrgan county line.

Water reached six feet in some areas, several houses moved off foundations, barns floated away, and horses drowned as the Miami River receded from a 14 foot level by 8 AM.
Dr C L Jones manager of the Athens Home Telephone Company injured in a fall at the Court street plant. He toppled ten feet to the floor, initially feared broken foot, now using a cane and continuing office work. Six months earlier his right wrist was broken in a Ford car crank incident.
John Cox was tried in Magister Helwig's court and found guilty of permitting cruelty to a pony while foreman at L. D. Poston & Co. mine. He was fined 25 dollars plus costs. A 250 volt electric current and calcium carbide burns were cited. The case will be appealed to the common pleas court on error.

The Cleveland Columbus Realty Company recently leased the building from Depositors Realty Company.
State and county officials inspected the Chauncey-Glouster road this morning. Engineers ordered Morristown hill removed, enabling an immediate new survey. The grade will be flattened reducing the road length by about 700 feet.

In Cleveland on April 22 the drift of railway strikers back to jobs continued as strike leaders awaited a Washington decision. A labor board appeal decision was promised today per a telegram from striker representative J. H. Foley. Five more locals of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen had charters revoked for unauthorized striking, bringing expulsions to eight thousand members.
