Nelsonville notes show the Parent-Teacher Association planning to wire the building for electric lights and to start work soon. They also set a paper drive for early May and urged members to call a contact for paper collection.
In Nelsonville on April 20 a special Mother's Day memorial service was announced for May 12 by Nelsonville Aerie No. 391 Fraternal Order of Eagles. A committee led by John Barrows Peter Barrows and Len Valkinburs will arrange the event at Eagle Hall on West Washington Street in the afternoon. Two men from Columbus were fined after pleading guilty to intoxication in city court.

An automobile stolen from a Mt. Vernon resident, Len Slaughter, was found after a city dispatch cleared ownership. Slaughter was in Columbus for a boxing match Saturday when the theft occurred. the vehicle was recovered and traced to Mt. Vernon.
The forecast from the Weather Service predicts cooler conditions across the Ohio Valley with periods of moderate temperatures. Showers are expected again late in the week, around Thursday or Friday, as a front passes.
Two Marietta youths aged 18, David Williams and charged as 18, died when their car crashed into a ditch near Heverly and burst into flames. The vehicle overturned after striking a telephone pole en route from Marietta to Vanesville. Members of a local dance band attempted rescue but were unable to reach the victims.
Floyd Linscott was taken to a hospital after a fire at the ARURR Fuatr Aturna Cash Teed Store on Tauck Street in Nelsonville. An operation for a perforated duodenal ulcer was performed, and his condition was reported favorable after surgery.
Community notices report that slides titled Among the Thatched Huts of Vespria will be shown Sunday at 8 40 o'clock at the Epworth League meeting in the Methodist church alongside Africa topics.
