Meigs County jail issue moved to November ballot
Meigs County commissioners and Sheriff Keith Wood agreed to push a planned jail bond proposal to November general election. The plan centers on financing a Meigs County Sheriff's Office and Correctional Facility with an estimated principal around 9 million dollars over up to 30 years, pending cost breakdowns and millage certification. The board aims to file a ballot resolution with the Board of Elections at the August deadline and has hired a bond attorney to guide the process. The general election is Tuesday, November 7.
