New staff include Richard Byrd forest instructor, William Price forestry recreation botany expert, James Patrick distributive education coordinator, and Virginia Carson cooperative office education teacher. The district also accepted a $662 annual rent offer for excess land, and updated enrollment and equipment plans for the institutes.

Officials Get Added Time For Motions In Charleston Case
Former Gov. W. W. Barron and five others indicted on bribery conspiracy charges were granted extra time to file pre-plea motions in federal court in Charleston. Judge J. Robert Martin Jr. pushed Monday’s deadline to May 15 and the government must answer by June 5. The defendants allegedly used influence to secure state contracts for firms in exchange for payments.

Nelsonville Curtis Keels Haydenville was arrested on driving while intoxicated and license revocation charges. He pleaded innocent to the first count and guilty to the second, was fined 150 dollars plus costs and jailed for three days on the DWI count and 100 dollars plus costs with two days in jail on the license revocation charge, and was committed to Athens County jail for non payment.
