American woman MoE Craig reportedly abducted by Chinese bandits as naval exchanges continue on the Yangtze. U S warships come under fire in three incidents while factions battle near Canton and Hong Kong, amid cautious U S policy in Peking.
Har vey Sayre's Jacksonville store lost $70 in cash after burglars bored into the rear door lock. Hams and other goods were found piled near the exit, suggesting intent to steal food as well as money. Columbus detectives are investigating. Sayre's Buchtel store was burgled for nearly $10,000 months earlier.
Washington reports a period of showers from April 18 to 23 with a first bout early week and another near midweek. Temperatures rise to normal or above early, then dip colder toward the end of the week.
Easter services fill Hocking Valley as AML churches plan special music and sermons. Logan First Presbyterian and First United Brethren lead with choirs and cantatas. Clark Payne, 30, is recovering at home from internal injuries after a 36 foot fall from a railroad trestle in Vermont. He swung from the trestle ties as a nickel plate train passed overhead and fell to rocky ground below.
Cincinnati April 6 Judge Stanley Struble of the Common Pleas issued rulings in the Tumey case era extending to village leadership. He held mayors of villages have no judicial power and proposed creation of village judges funded from general funds to end fee splitting.
Mrs. A. E. Algeo of 133 North Lancaster Street sold bushels of apples in a single day after running a Messenger classified ad. She said the strong response came from calls generated by the ad, selling every apple on the first day.
The will of Commodore William R. Huntington bequeaths half a million dollars to his housekeepers Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Robson, who cared for Huntington about two years. The filing also reveals his wish to crem ate his body and scatter the ashes atop the Perry Memorial at Put-In-Bay. Huntington died at his home in Elyria at age T1.

Police think a moonshiner's still in a Chicago shop row caused an explosion that killed eight residents. Victims were members of the Levin and Sokelsky families who slept in their beds when brick walls collapsed. The blast occurred in a solid brick one story building housing a tin shop and grocer. The Sokolsky and Levin households lived behind the shop.
Buehtel residents Roy Wright and Vere Turner pleaded guilty to liquor charges before Magistrate Peart W. Helwig. Wright faced fines of 100 and 160 costs for possession and transporting liquor after officers seized two and a half gallons of whisky in Modoc. Turner received 20 plus costs for possession. Auto confiscated. disposition pending.
Nelsonville April 16 staff special John Duffy dus city inclined to dispute lightning twice in same place. Duffy fined 300 dollars and costs Tuesday by Mayor Eberle after pleading guilty to selling intoxicating liquor. He agreed to work out the fine on city streets. Friday Duffy reported for duty with John Barleycorn. A bottle with liquor was found in his pocket during search by Chief Pearson. Duffy arraigned again before the mayor and pled guilty to possessing 8300 and costs and committed to county jail. He was escorted to Athens this morning by Deputy Sheriff E S McCune.
Senator Fess declares that Calvin Coolidge will run for reelection as president, signaling a major administration political step. The statement, likely made with the president’s knowledge, followed conferences on the third term question and frames a pivotal shift against long-standing term limits.
In Columbus anvil report notes E. J. Robinson of Canal Dover pleaded guilty to concealing 100 gallons of whisky. Federal Judge Hough fined him 200 as J. M. Soliday, his attorney, claimed 25 gallons were at issue and the rest reported to officials during the arrest.

James Petree owner his wife Josephine and a maid were hurled from bed as $15,900 damage rained. Police seek owners of an auto seen nearby after midnight. bomb believed meant for a different house.
