Columbus police held 66 year old Elmer Tilton after he admitted fatally shooting John T. Paul 66, a tavern operator, saying Paul ordered him off the sidewalk and called him a bad name. Tilton said he intended to shoot another man earlier and encountered Paul while seeking that man.

Tales include a piano player song clutching Nearer My God to Thee during a twister that hurled Col Porter and the instrument into a pecan tree, with both unharmed. Cleveland detectives William Steele and Joseph David spotted a red haired girl in a restaurant before the St Clair Savings and Loan holdup.
