Carnegie pension fund faces bankruptcy claims in 1940
McNell Sayre of New York, executive VP of the Protestant Episcopal Church pension fund, warned at a Disciples of Christ meeting in Columbus that the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching is again near bankruptcy. He said an eight million dollar fund for ministers is in jeopardy and about 500 aging professors may receive far less than planned. The foundation’s repeated bankruptcies are blamed on mismanagement rather than flaws in the pension system.
