Chamber Told To Plan For Gavin Mine Growth
Ohio Power executive vice president Joe P. Gills warned Athens Chamber of Commerce members that the Gavin Power Plant and Meigs mine complexes will trigger regional growth. He cited 3,000 workers with a $1 million weekly payroll, 2,600 to 3,000 miners at peak, and a $448 million development that will boost income, retail sales, bank deposits, and population across Southeastern Ohio.
