Meigs County Moves To Free Held Sales Tax Funds
Prosecuting Attorney Manning D. Webster will file action to release Meigs County sales tax funds held by the state. Auditor George Daniels notes the money is owed to townships municipalities and the county to pay state inmate care costs amid a dispute over charges. No funds were received in 1938 or so far in 1939, reducing county revenue and affecting local authorities. Franklin County led similar injunctions, with Meigs among the latest to act.
