Police used tear gas and nightsticks as demonstrators condemn the abolition of the sliding scale that raised prices with living costs. The unrest contrasts British approval of the French president after his three day visit.

Columbus reports plans approved to draft proposals authorizing a series of watershed district organizations with aid from the Water Legislation Council. The districts would include flood control, financing improvements and reservoir-site programs with local citizen participation.
