Middleport Denied River Sewage Dumping Permit
After a four hour Columbus hearing the village of Middleport had its permit to dump refuse into the Ohio River denied by the Ohio Water Pollution Control Board. Officials argued over testing and a proposed sewage disposal plant funded by a bond issue voters previously rejected. The board cited lack of progress toward a plant and evidence of pollution from Middleport sewers.
