Escapee caught after Delaware Union pursuit
Delaware police captured 29 year old Troy Byrd Tuesday following a pursuit in Delaware and Union Counties. Byrd was not the driver of the car being pursued, according to Capt. Adam Moore, who said officers received a tip Byrd had been seen riding in a vehicle in Delaware.

Third SEPTA escape driver charged after chase in Union Delaware counties
A 38 year old Galloway woman Jamie Victoria Jarrett fled from SEPTA during a pursuit lasting 15 to 20 miles. She faces felonies for obstructing justice and failure to comply with an officer. The chase went south on Route 42 at 60 to 65 mph and ended near Stop Sticks in Union County after a multi agency response.

Athens man indicted on 24 child material counts in courts
A former Athens man now living in Guysville, Benjamin Schneider, 45, was indicted March 27 by an Athens County grand jury on 24 felonies. The charges include pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor, illegal use of a minor in unclothed reference oriented material, possession of criminal tools, and voyeurism. The acts reportedly occurred Jan 16–19 with a minor female known to Schneider. He appeared March 29 and pled innocent. bond set at $500,000 with 10 percent allowed.

Maplewood Athens to close city’s only assisted living
The Maplewood of Athens will close June 2 leaving residents told Monday in a notice. Residents and families learned the market-driven decision after a request for comment to the administrator and parent company drew no immediate response. The facility has 12 units, with The Lindley Inn in The Plains as the only nearby option, which reported 48 apartments and a 32-person wait list.
