The Post Office Department authorized experimental nonstop airmail service on two routes from Pittsburgh to Philadelphia and to Weston West Virginia, using All American Aviation. Set to begin gradually, all towns on the routes will be served by July 2 with daily service except Sunday, including Latrobe Morgantown Clarksburg Marietta Pomeroy Gallipolis Huntington Nitro Dunbar Charleston and Spencer.
Allen Rosenberg, 35, sought by federal authorities for kidnapping and robbing a Hollywood State Bank messenger in Los Angeles on March 21, 1938, was arrested in Toledo on a description from an FBI circular. He admitted being wanted in Los Angeles and was identified by a facial scar.
Two children were burned to death after entering a burning single story dwelling with their mother who had been rescued and placed on the lawn. Fire crews fought the blaze and authorities investigate the fatal incident.

Mrs. Carrie Murphy Wolfe, 75, widow of Byron Wolfe, died at her sister Mrs. F L Preston's home in Logan after a stroke. Funeral services set for 2 p m Saturday at Leonard Funeral Home Logan with interment in Oak Grove Cemetery. Survived by son Byron Wolfe Jr and a grandson. Preston as sister and sole surviving Murphy child.
Mrs F C Morin age 49 died this morning at 6 45 at her home on Canaanville Road from a paralytic stroke. She leaves her husband and two children Albert Sidwell Elephant Furnace Pa and Helen Sidwell Pittsburgh. Friends may call at the home Friday afternoon and evening. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
Nelsonville man 65 Robert Frazee died after an appendicitis operation at Chillicothe Hospital. He lived in Nelsonville 35 years and worked at the Lick Run Mine. He had recently moved to live with a sister in McArthur. Funeral arrangements not set.
President Roosevelt marks Army Day with the largest peacetime armament program. Parades in over 25 cities feature 29 000 troops and modern units. Open houses allow civilian inspection. Secretaries LouIs Johnson and Harry Woodring announce military buildup and a 75 000 strong Modern Minute Men reserve.
Ralph Musser, 19, received minor injuries after leaping in front of an auto driven by J. A. Brooker of Marysville. He was held for examination in the City Prison. Musser shouted a death statement and his wife said he had attempted hanging earlier in the week.

William Clark age 70 died at his son Frank Clarks home near Albany after a brief illness. He leaves two sons Frank and Emmett, of near Albany. Mrs Clark preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 PM at the Town Hall Church with burial in the adjoining cemetery. Rev Black of Albany will officiate.
H A Rider of the Ohio Conservation Division urged the Nelsonville Sportsmen's Association to favor forest restoration and soil conservation as the best flood control, outlining a three point program: stop soil erosion, build headwater retaining dams, and restore banks with plant life and fish habitats. He noted Ohio faces widespread soil decline and warned of future food and textile shortages if conservation is neglected.
Philadelphia report says authorities seek a sixth suspect in a large arsenic murder for insurance ring blamed for at least 100 deaths across four states. Acting Captain James Kelly says the woman lured men by marriage or cohabitation then steered them to purchase insurance and ingest arsenic.
