Gallia County commissioners in a special session approved a 10000 supplemental appropriation from the general fund to the board of elections for county wide voter registration. The action is in addition to the 1961 budget totaling 19840 for the elections board.
Kyger Creek Board of Education hired Dale Van Sickle of Gallipolis Route 1 as a bus driver for the remainder of the school year replacing resigned James A. Cremeens. The meeting covered routine business with all members present except President Bill Scott who is at Holzer Hospital. A special meeting later this month will seek to employ custodians and other staff.
The Messenger disclaims responsibility for listing errors when stations fail to provide corrected TV program schedules.

Gallipolis two men Clarence H. Jones and Emerson A. Spires were fined 50 dollars and costs for driving while intoxicated. Spires also paid 5 dollars and costs for no operator license. Each received five days in jail, with six month license suspensions. Jack C. Davis forfeited a 25 dollar bond for left of center.
The Southwestern Local School District board approves Rio Grande High School students attending next year on a 3.80 dollar monthly tuition. The Raccoon board delays action and Rio Grande will close this year due to low enrollment and failing state standards.
Gallipolis Ohio The Gallia Academy Senior High Band will attend a banquet at the Farmers Hotel on Monday April 24. Jack O Evans director of the Ohio State University Marching Band will be the featured speaker and show Buckeye band films. The annual spring concert is set for Friday May 12 and boosters plan a junior high party after the concert.

Raymond Zerkle and son Jeffrey were guests of Neva Zerkle. Fred Ward and wife visited Roush family in Vienna. J H Shamblin visited Ray Shamblin in Cincinnati. Joe Hern of Florida and wife announce birth of a baby girl. they have three sons. Joe is a former resident.
City and county health departments sponsor a plastic clinic on Thursday April 13 from 8 30 a m to noon at the county health department office in the Gallia County courthouse basement. It offers consultation and evaluation for children birth to 21 with plastic defects such as scars burns congenital defects and birth marks directed by Dr John C Trabue with Dr Richard K Steiner and Dr James L Dailey.
Gallia County auditor reports 1961 dog license sales through March total 2 982, down 509 from 1960. The shortfall follows the first quarter and reflects a slower start to the year.
