The Associated Press reports a nationwide meat boycott driving sales down and slashing retail prices. Meat counters show as much as 80 percent drop. some items fall 29 cents per pound. Cattle and hog markets fluctuate with gains in Kansas City and Illinois, while processors reduce operations and furlough hundreds of meat cutters.
President Nixon and South Vietnamese President Thieu prepared to reaffirm ties at the windup of their first meeting in four years. Topics included continued U S aid, possible measures toward Hanoi, and U S bombing in Cambodia. A joint communique was promised at the two day summit.
