James P. Porter head of the University Department of Pay-Off was elected president of the Ohio Academy of Science at its meeting in Columbus. A longtime University faculty member, Porter is noted for work in psychology and editors the Journal of Psychology.

Somerset, Ky April 2 An effort to link Neal Bowman with the slaying of George Kaufman during a store robbery at Camp Nelson Ky March 8 8 was underway as authorities pursued connections Bowman a fugitive from Lima Ohio hospital for criminal insane was wounded and captured here Friday He was reported recovering from wounds to the neck and right shoulder Police weighed whether to return him to Ohio and if grounds prove he will be tried for murder in Kentucky as authorities broaden the investigation into recent robberies Dr R E Bushong superintendent of the Lima Hospital said Bowman would likely be sent back to the hospital noting he had been declared insane and denied the right to fight extradition

Wheeler, were murdered near Grapevine as they directed a patrol car toward a parked vehicle. Witnesses report a tall man fired a shotgun at the fallen officers before fleeing with a companion.

Washington April 2 An administration plan to control the national milk supply to raise dairy farmer incomes was presented to dairymen for criticism and adoption. It contemplates about 150 million dollars in benefits to cooperating producers and allows dairymen to choose output limits. A processing tax starting at one cent per pound of butterfat would fund the adjustment, rising to five cents as supply tightens, and a half cent per quart rise for consumers. The program seeks a 15 percent production reduction from recent years along with three offshoots: distributing 100 million pints of surplus milk to undernourished urban children, moving healthy corn from overproducing to under-consuming regions, and eradicating about 600,000 tubercular cattle. YOUNGSTOWN April 2040 Two women and a man are held in jail on charges of selling $54,000 of stolen bonds to Union Trust Co Cincinnati. Bonds were stolen from a year old Marshalltown Iowa woman who police say was murdered during the robbery. Two suspects admit selling the bonds but say they did not know they were stolen. The third suspect, a woman, has refused to talk.
