Albany April 2 News reports lawmakers will introduce bills to disqualify the socialist party from official recognition. One measure bars any group admitting aliens or minors from ballot placement. Another targets organizations whose candidates are controlled by a legislative committee directing successful officeholders.
Wireless from the steamship Libby Maine reports being in a wild sea off Cape Flattery with 25 crew members in danger. The message reached the Mercantile Exchange in Seattle, Wash. on April 2.
Twenty five hundred Norfolk and Western shopmen from all crafts walked out Thursday night in sympathy with the clerks who were on strike.
The Chicago Herald and Examiner announces the Sunday edition price will advance to 10 cents starting this week, reflecting a boost in the paper’s price in Chicago.
At a morning Board of Trustees meeting in the President's office an annual raise of 1500 dollars for President Alston Ellis was adopted with two changes. Tuition will rise with registration from 29.50 to 36 dollars. faculty raises are expected as funds are allocated. Special term students face a 5 dollar fee.

Police in Cleveland believe the drowning victim is Ruth E. Abramson, 20, of Painesville. Relatives share the belief as divers continue dragging the lake for her body. Abramson had been suffering melancholia after influenza and disappeared after leaving friends for a walk from the pier.
The general strike spreads across Copenhagen to protest King Christian's dismissal of Zahle's cabinet. Harbor workers quit, bakers strike raises bread fears, and troops guard the palace with orders to fire on demonstrators as elections are planned for April 22.
Washington April 2 Final defeat of suffrage in Delaware will start a race between national organizations of the Republican and Democratic parties for the honor of passing the national amendment which franchises more than 25 000 000 women. Suffragists say they have not yet given up hope of ratification in Delaware. Republicans point out that a Republican congress passed the amendment and that 26 of the 85 states to ratify are normally Republican. If they can furnish the 85th state they also can claim a large share of the gratitude of women voters in the next election.
House Democrats say Republicans cannot marshal a two thirds vote to override President Wilson’s veto on the peace resolution. Champ Clark and Flood assert passage is impossible without a Senate approval. Administration leaders plan to pressure lawmakers as Homer Cummings coordinates near-term strategy.
London April 2 Parliament adjourned to April 12 after advancing Lloyd George's Irish home rule bill to final passage in a session marked by bitter charges and attacks. Supporters were confident the measure would pass easily when it is finally considered.

He later escaped to Illinois lived on a farm until exposure led to his capture. Friends from Inoise urge a pardon and have written to the clemency board.
Salina Kansas reports that twenty delegates to the Chicago Republican national convention will go uninstructed. The sixteen previously named delegates by district conventions were also uninstructed.
Members of the House Ways and Means Committee have decided to report favorably a soldier bonus bill at this session. Democrats on the committee oppose the move, arguing the government cannot afford it at this time.
An Inter-church World Movement Conference will meet Friday April 9 at the Christian church in Athens. Delegates from Protestant churches are urged. Washington April 2 The house ways and means committee may decide today on reporting soldier bonus legislation. Republicans favor a general one per cent sales tax to raise revenue, with a sales tax to cover the bonus and to repeal excess profits taxes. If approved the bonus would likely be capped at twenty dollars per month of service.
More than 200 allied crafts workers including shop laborers car mechanics boiler makers machinists blacksmiths and coach cleaners walked out at noon in Columbus affecting N and W shops.
In Palm Beach on April 2, Mrs. Richard Croker asserts in county court affidavits that she knows New York better than her husband Richard Croker Jr. The Croker children seek to block disposal of an estate valued at about 10 million dollars, alleging their father is incapacitated and that Mrs. Croker exerts undue influence.
Gov Cox backs a uniform rental licensing plan after a Cincinnati meeting. A special committee including W A McConaughey J H Martin J H Liniger and John Marshall will draft details with Attorney General Price. They aim to licenses landlords to limit profits and curb evictions amid high rents.
With federal price controls lifted, coal operators announce price hikes ranging from 25 cents to 1 dollar per ton. Indiana dealers add 25 cents, Pocahontas Coal raises 1 dollar, retailers expect higher quotes this week as many regions report increases and others hold steady for now.

Washington April 2 Attorney General Palmer told the House Agriculture Committee that the government’s dissolution agreement with the big five ends the packers’ threat to the food supply. He said the deal yielded more for the public than criminal prosecutions would have and rejects future price fears, arguing it restores democratic business freedom. Palmer criticized prolonged investigations as yielding little.
The War Department announced the award of eight Distinguished Service Crosses. Major Clarence Huebner of Bushton received one of the honors in the ceremony.
New York April 2 harbor workers strike cripples ferry lines and vessels on all roads. Six thousand men walk out demanding an eight hour day. Rail officials report some crews returning to work and partial service kept on ferries. J J Mantell of Erie says about 1600 on strike affecting ferries tugs and lighters.
Gordon Woodbury, a pledged Hoover delegate, announces support for Attorney General Palmer in Manchester New Hampshire. Woodbury says Hoover is unfit for the nomination and votes Palmer, reflecting a key party realignment during the convention season.
Columbus April 2. Daily increase in capital stock of Ohio corporations last month surpassed $5,000,000. Corporations formed for profit numbered 495 with capital stock totaling $53,245,000.
John Gallander 56 of New York faces arraignment today on felonious assault charges from alleged cruelties to his 17 year old daughter Minnie. Police report she was buried with a hot iron cut with knives and pricked with needles. Gallander is a clay modeler and vaudeville actor known on stage as Gallanda.
An Easter market at the Presbyterian church is set for Saturday April 3. Lunch will be served from 11 to 1 o'clock with offerings for guests and visitors.
