Whorter Telegram Story Refutes Veto Telegram Claim

Judge Hamilton McWhorter and family returned from Watson Springs after a distressing accident. Athens hotel owner nearly crashes into pole en route to Marietta

W. E. Sanges, owner of the Sanges hotel in Athens, drove from Athens to visit his mother in Marietta. His car blew a tire between Inmar Yards and Belton and skidded into a nearby telephone pole, breaking it. No injuries reported.

Burglars Captured in Athens As Goods Recovered

George Earl and Silas McElvine, two young men, are jailed in Athens on multiple burglary warrants. Police traced 227 items valued at about 884.10 from Michael Brothers Stern & Co Wingfield Bros and the Athens Hardware Co to the culprits via the Athenaeum hotel bellhop and a pawned raincoat. Goods returned to owners include a range from a $30 suit to a $1.50 item, with the total near a thousand dollars.

Two Athens men escape thirty foot embankment crash

Sunday afternoon in Athens, M. F. McKinney and J. H. Kimbrough rode a runabout toward Barnett Shoals. After a steering gear failure the car plunged down a thirty foot embankment, rolling over and injuring both men mildly. State Normal School Opens Today in Athens

The formal opening occurs this Tuesday at 10 o'clock in the auditorium with a brief program. Athens is invited to attend and welcome the new students. More than five hundred young ladies have arrived and many more plan to be present for the event.

Clarke County Adopts Plans for 175000 Courthouse

Yesterday county commissioners and advisory committee approved the plans for Clarke County’s new 175000 courthouse from architect A Ten Eycke Brown of Atlanta. Plans, reviewed with Brown, required no material changes and include a summer cooling system mirroring the winter heating method. A special Thursday meeting will certify the plan, with bids advertised and the contract let when lawful.
