Mrs Mary A Carithers dies after a two week illness at age seventy eight at her son James Y Carithers home on Hill street. She was the oldest Baptist member, widow of H A Carithers, survived by three children and several grandchildren and brothers. Woman slashes husband in self defense on Sunday
On a farm near John R. White’s place a colored woman, wife of Nelson Daniell, killed him with a razor after he beat her with furniture and crockery. Witnesses saw the affray. no inquest was held as evidence favored self defense. The case awaits grand jury review amid reports of prior cruelty.

Miss Mary Moore Dies Sunday at Home of Mother
Mary Moore died Sunday morning at her mother Kate Williford's home in Ath ens. Born in North Carolina, she moved to Ath ens with her mother years ago. She was devoted to helping others, a cheerful Christian, and her death blessed many who knew her. Funeral and burial were held Sunday evening with her remains laid to rest.

Young Man Dies of Appendicitis at 17
Fred Johnson aged seventeen son of Mr and Mrs W C Johnson of Barber street died yesterday at St Marys hospital from appendicitis after several days of suffering. He was brought to the hospital Sunday night too late for relief. The body will be taken today at 10 30 by Seaboard Airline to Berkeley Madison county for funeral and burial around noon. He is survived by four brothers and several sisters.
