Athens Day at the Fair a Hit With Big Crowd

Athens Day at the Fair drew a large, joyful crowd as merchants closed shops and schools, with the Midway opening to strong attendances. Races featured fast times in the trot and mile events, including Lan dom winning the unfinished trot and Ida V taking the mile run, while today’s program promised more top races.

Cattle Awards at Fair Declared by Judge Reuben Gentry

Yesterday at the fair cattle awards were handed out by judge Reuben Gentry of Biltmore North Carolina. First prize Jersey to A H Hodgson for 20 dollars. first prize Holstein to O F Ausland for 10 dollars. first prize Jersey to A H Hodgson for 10 dollars. first prize Durham to J H Edmiston for 10 dollars.

Clarke county’s agricultural display at the fairgrounds shows 27 forage varieties including 21 from William Ueary Morton, with cane, cotton, corn and pecan entries. Free Performances At The Fair Today In Athens

The fair offers free attractions today with a full afternoon and evening program weather permitting. Highlights include wire act burlesque trapeze double trapeze slide for life trick house aerial casting ring burlesque juggling and a spectacular balloon race the greatest event of the day. Fans are urged to attend as it promises the best day yet at the fair.

What Happened to Jones to Be Staged at Opera House

Next Saturday matinee at the Opera House features comedian George Ober and a strong supporting company in George H Broadhurst's successful comedy What Happened to Jones. The New York production is intact, with Ober as Jones and a lineup including Miss George Hiliot Miss Mae Pettes Miss Adelaide Ober and more, noted for brisk humor and bright lines.
