Eight teams of Athens business men representing civic groups will canvass the city this morning to raise Red Cross funds. District supervisors oversee each area while solicitors distribute subscription cards. Citizens who have not yet given will have a chance to contribute as the local chapter urges full support for ongoing relief work.
Larry Gantt reports a January gathering in Athens for a weeklong farmers school at the Agricultural College. The event invites farmers, bankers, merchants, and citizens from across the state to learn crop planning, fertilizers, breeding, and farm management with demonstrations and lectures to boost cotton alternatives and overall prosperity.
The fire department answered two calls early Monday and faced two fires of serious threat. The first blaze on College Avenue near the A L car line crossing damaged two small stores operated by E Fields. The incident, at 1 05 a m, gutted one store and caused substantial water damage. A second fire at Dr A N Powers residence on Milledge Avenue was attributed to a grate and burned the parlor and stairs, with about 2000 dollars in damages to house and furniture.
Hunters await the quail season opening on Monday November 20 with many local nimrods ready with gun and dog. County Game Warden Henry Carlton reports issuing numerous licenses and urges adherence to hunting laws and regulations amid expectations of plentiful quail in parts around Athens.

Various defendants from White Rabun Madison and Jackson counties receive fines or jail terms for whiskey offenses.

Georgia and pancentiit football teams will be guests of the Thalian Chub all the University Friday night at the Colonial Theater. They present Mrs Temple's Telegram with a business announcement by Harold Kassewitz. The two grid squads clash the following noon at Sahfred Field, decorated in colors of their Alma Mater.

North Georgia Conference assigns all Athens Methodist ministers to new churches. Dr. S. E. Wasson becomes First Methodist pastor, replacing Dr. Anthony who moves to Florida. Rev. J. A. Quillian to Oconee Street, Rev. M. S. Williams to Milledge Avenue circuit, and Rev. W. A. Wells to Colbert church among other reallocations.
Federal officers J B Kimsey and Lewis Johnson raided McDuffie County cleaning up stills and arresting bootleggers. Three large stills were captured three prosecutions secured and two old whiskey sellers taken into custody. The Norria brothers, arrested previously, were arrested again as officers chase long-standing whiskey peddlers.
Athens children await the first modern playground as Kiwanis prepares Jollies of 1922 at Colds Wednesday night to raise funds for the Playground Fund. A large crowd is expected for the event and entertainment.
Fred Crawford center marshal, about 35, died at a local hospital Sunday night from a fractured skull after being struck during a disturbance at a church. Three White County men, Will Dial Harvey Tinch and Glazer, were jailed as suspects. The incident prompted a drive to establish playgrounds with municipal support and community organizations pledging funds.
Kiwanis members are urged to meet at Costa's at 14 30 o'clock today. The brief gathering will last only a few minutes and Mr Ringman is requested to attend.
Delegates from every state plus France and Mexico arrive for the 29th annual United Daughters of the Confederacy convention in Birmingham Alabama. Moscow police report five men confessed to murdering 108 people including a birthday party of eighteen and a family of eight. The robberies spanned various regions of Russia over more than a year with no witnesses.
Advices from Cologne report rioting that began Friday reaching Kalk suburb and Sunday extending toward Kuelhelm Ehrenfried. Windows were smashed and the mob attacked the police as hunger and waiting anger fueled clashes. many arrests followed.
Georgia and Vanderbilt meet on Sanford Field Saturday afternoon as Athens hosts a large weekend program. Tickets go on sale at Costa's at 10 am. The event features homecoming activities with dances, plays, and reunions planned by University authorities, alumni groups, Rotary, Kiwanis, Chamber of Commerce, and local citizens.
The Athens Kiwanis club will hold its regular weekly luncheon Thursday at the Athens High and Industrial School under principal Sam Harris a noted colored educator. A special program is planned with domestic science served by the class and an entertainment program. Prof Hond city schools superintendent and Mell board of education president will attend as guests with other visitors.
