This morning at 10:30 a meeting of joint Cham ber of Commerce and Southern Poultry Association committees will inaugurate a campaign to raise two thousand dollars for next months big poultry exhibit. Prisoner Bath Assault and Fines in City Jail Case
Yesterday morning in the city prison Uncle Henry Moss suffered a cold water bath after fellow prisoner Will Martin attacked him following public drunkenness. Martin, freed in the halls, was restrained and fined 5 for drunkenness 15 for disorderly conduct 15 for public indecency and 100 for disorderly conduct in another case totaling 160 days of street duty.

Oil can miracle draws crowds at Clayton street shop
The Polarine oil can at Talmage Hardware on Clayton street drew a crowd as oil continuously flowed from the can into a pan, then into another pan, never overfilling. Hundreds watched the unending stream and left puzzled, claiming a miracle or parable in the Old Testament. It will be repeated this morning.

Railroads Set Freight Record New York to Athens
The Southern and Gainesville Midland Railways report record fast freight shipments from New York to Athens. A large volume of cabbages apples and other produce were moved in carload lots via the Southern to Gainesville then to the G M terminals reaching Athens on the fourth day after departure. The lines were praised for the quick transit.

Killing of 70 year old wife shocks Macon, Georgia
Special to the Banner. Macon Georgia November 12 Roger McCall a 71 year old man shot and killed his wife age 70 while she slept in bed at their home. He drank whiskey for several days and then fell asleep. Found in a stupor when deputies entered. He muttered I’m d n glad of it for she was mean as h I to me. The couple had argued earlier about renting a room to two young men. Mrs McCall had long been an invalid and bedridden for weeks.

Man Arrests Buys Own Alibi in Alabama Road Shooting Case
Rome Georgia November 13 Charles Edwards wanted on indictment for shooting Lon McCreary, a young farmer, on September 16 on the Alabama road, was arrested Saturday by Special Officer W W Smith after a long chase. Smith previously apprehended Danville Virginia Chief of Police Stripling in Georgia for murder. McCreary has been in hospital and is now out again. Edwards, a young farmer near Byrd Station, says he can prove an alibi.

Ty Cobb Honored In Athens At College Widow Show
Ty Cobb was guest of local fans at a Dutch supper at the Elks club after appearing in The College Widow Monday night. Judge Thomas welcomed him, Herschel Carlthers toasted, and Cobb spoke briefly. Host Ab Pitner organized the affair. Cobb received a Georgia football sweater with a large G, presented by Capt Kid Woodruff, and wore it on stage. Notable spectators included Cobb’s mother and sister from Royston.
