Woman steals bonds then returns them to avoid arrest
Chicago reports Alice Cheney Brown arrested at union depot after passing a counterfeit check for 14 720 dollars to Babcock Pushton Louderback. She retrieved 20 000 dollars in bonds she had obtained, but returned them to detective Frank Repetto and paid a 63 hotel bill before being allowed to leave. The bonds, Madison River Power Company first mortgage bonds, were later handed back to the broker. the firm declined to prosecute.

Local Gas Company Manager Dies by Own Action in Macon
D W Van Arsdale, manager for Hagan Gas Engine Co, committed suicide in his Hotel Arcadia room on Mulberry street. A son found him after 7 am. coroner ruled despondency over ill health and failed company collections as the cause. He leaves a wife, two sons, two daughters, and a Winchester, Kentucky home. Body to be shipped for funeral and burial.
