Dr. R Lin Cave of South Carolina will deliver a lecture tonight for the Christian church building fund. The speaker, familiar with the life of the Dixie chieftain, will discuss General Robert E. Lee in battle and in peace to draw a large appreciative audience.
State Entomologist E L Worsham directs December and January institutes to educate cotton growers on boll weevil defenses once it arrives in Georgia. Worsham and Commissioner Hudson toured Texas for field observations and will offer guidance on resisting black root nematodes, plus distribution of a resistant cotton seed variety in spring. Cotton seed meal remains vital for livestock feed. cotton seed oil is rising in household use. These institutes, with dates to be announced, aim to benefit the entire state.

Dr C G Stroud Mercer coach traveled to Atlanta to rebut a Red and Black piece accusing him of coaching misdeeds and ungentlemanly behavior. He urged responsibility for a libelous attack, presenting letters from Mercer affiliates and Rochester alumni affirming his character and denying sideline coaching last Saturday.
Yesterday featured two close football games the Sewanee Tigers edged Texas six to five while Clemson overwhelmed the University of South Carolina with five touchdowns and two goals. Georgia fans watched as the Purple defeated Texas in a tight midweek clash.
Roy Tibbetts son of J F Tibbetts general manager of the Southern Manufacturing Company took the Flatau medal in a meat prize drill by the Rifles last night. Judges Captains Lavelle Michael and Anderson of the U G cadet corps announced the trophy with Col C E Smith presenting the award in a bright speech.
Mr J F Payne long time watchman at the University suffered a stroke Wednesday night. He rested better yesterday and partially regained use of his limbs. Doctors say recovery is possible. The attack came from hardening of the spinal cord developing over months.
Special Bulletin reports Southern train number fourteen from Cincinnati to Jacksonville collided with another train near the Chattahoochee River after leaving Atlanta. A wrecking train is en route and reports say a white brakeman and a colored fireman were killed.
J. W. Smith of Bishop packed eighty seven bales in a single car for Hardeman and Phinizy of Athens factors and proprietors of the bonded warehouse near the compress. The cotton raised by Smith Fullilove and other customers exceeded typical car load, with careful loading and handling noted.

In Atlanta Judge Broyles halted eight charges against the blind tiger leader known as Hub Talley when a lunacy warrant was filed. Talley faced liquor selling disorderly conduct contempt and resisting an officer among others. The sheriff postponed the case pending lunacy proceedings. A later wreck claim in a picnic train yard is alleged to have damaged Talley's mind.
In Cordele Georgia on November 2 Joe Thompson a Black suspect fainted at the mention of Sam Clyatt a prominent Lowndes citizen who vanished last week and is believed murdered Thompson later claimed officers hypnotized him during strict questioning before he was revived.
In Savannah Georgia on November 2 a murder case witness G J Crimshaw appeared intoxicated and was fined $25 by Judge Chariton. A physician tied to the case diagnosed him as intoxicated, prompting a rebuke from the judge.
Voters who registered last year remain eligible and new voters are defined. Residents who turned 18 since then, moved into the state or county, or failed to register last year may now register if they have lived in the state twelve months and in the county six months and paid last year’s taxes.
Former Governor W. J. Northen alleges Gov. Smith ousted him as compiler of colonial records and as Confederate data collector for selfish political reasons. He says the governor abrogated a statute and nulled his appointment to advance personal and political aims.
Grand Lodge of Georgia Masons declines Judge A W Fite request to urge enforcement of the state prohibition law. Instead the body adopts a resolution urging officials to enforce all laws. The lodge adjourns after selecting Macon as permanent grand lodge headquarters.
John Knox announces the Lexington county fair to be held November 13 with exhibits of hogs chickens and colts from Clarke and adjoining counties for a purse. A big midway and a wild west show are planned and thirty rice horses will be on the track.
Professor Collier Cobb of the University of North Carolina lectured on coastal sand dunes at the university. He outlined how shifting sands in North Carolina, New Jersey, and Massachusetts along with travels to Jutland and North Africa informed reclamation efforts turning sands into forests and farmland.
Mrs Embree wife of the Clayton Street cafe proprietor near Roberts bookstore is much improved after a scalding milk incident. She was making toast when hot milk spilled, burning scalp and chest. she rose and recovered, narrowly escaping a worse injury.
Miss Loftis performs at the Majestic today during usual hours and has won many new friends with her delightful voice. The exact program remains unannounced, but whatever she sings is expected to be a pleasure to hear.
At the State Normal School last night the Pasmore trio performed a refined concert. The sisters proved themselves true artists and critics found no fault while the audience enjoyed a high quality musical program.
Mr Benn Betts assistant engineer at the city waterworks plant had been at home for several weeks. He was out yesterday for the first time and is improving his friends hope for an early recovery. Also notes limited supplies of pumpkin yams and Athens oyster sellers Arnold and Abney.
