Judge West tells city court to act without waiting for warrants and to hunt vagrants. He cites abundant labor and high cotton prices, urging officers to bring loafers in for trial or assign them to public works. Solicitor General Upson agrees the city court will curb vagrants.
The Krause Greater Shows bring a high class carnival to Chase Street baseball grounds next week, starting Monday evening. Captain Nick Carter will perform the Dive of Death and the program includes a dog and pony act, a monkey show, daily free concerts by an Italian band, and other novelties. An invitation is extended to all residents to attend each night and verify the attractions.

Yesterday was legal sale day the first Tuesday of the month. The Haselton Milledge avenue property sold under an Athens city court execution in favor of C K Nelson bishop and trustee. It was bought by Howell Erwin and Den Pree Hunni cutt for 3505 dollars. The North Chase street property of V Petropel was settled before sale.
Mr. B. H. Legg, long serving manager of Western Union offices in Athens, is reassigned to manage the cotton exchange at Augusta. He leaves many friends here and is replaced by Mr. Wood, son of City Clerk Wood, noted as one of the fastest operators in the United States.
Public notice announces severing ties with Bryant's Barber Shop and relocating to the Georgian Hotel Barber Shop at W. 5 Jones, Athens Georgia. The notice lists owners W W Hiley Arnold Abney and promotes bulk olives and Potsie Chips as fresh offerings.
Mr Jule E Gardner editor of the Clarke County Courier was injured in an automobile accident near Savannah while on a tour with newspaper men. He and two other occupants were hurt. Gardner’s injuries are not serious and he rests in Savannah hospital.
Frank Heard from Jackson County claimed he was injured by a railroad accident and used liquor to make pokeberry bitters. The judge pardoned most of the sentence, fining him $50 or seven months toting water, amid questions about his claimed disabilities. Witnesses later questioned the man’s physical condition as largely simulated.
In the Court of Ordinary the jury found Mrs Anna Chapel to be an insane subject and fit for treatment at the Milledgeville state sanitarium. She will be committed to the asylum once vaccination is possible.
Judge A J Cobb of Athens acted as special master in a hearing by commissioners for compensation filed by E Y Mullary and J F and W H Cone. The case concerns services linked to a Crump Park land sale to a syndicate that bought land for a tourist hotel, with seventy thousand dollars paid. Col Huff objected to the sale.
The Athens Garden Club convenes at 11 o clock this morning at the Y M C A parlors at Washington and Thomas streets. Members are urged to attend as business of especial importance will be transacted.

Al Livingstone, renowned U S speedster, was fatally injured on the Atlanta Speedway after a tire exploded during a late race. He fell from a stock car on the track amid a pursuit of a world record. doctors reported no hope of recovery. His wife and daughter were with him. his father Dr Al Livingstone and mother and sister traveled to be by his side.
The Maxwell owned by J F Tibbetts and driven by Mr Cook won in the 1200 to 1600 dollar class of the state good roads automobile tour. Thirteen cars completed the full thousand miles without a fault earning perfect scores. The $500 prize will be shared among those with perfect scores as the round proceeds.
