Tonight the city hall crowd swelled as the civic campaign neared a milestone amid cheers from men and women. Observers note the rising Athens spirit and growing public support, hinting at a turning point for the political effort.
The Clarke County records reveal a settlement of personal differences between J M Hodgson W S Holman and S T Pittard, with statements withdrawn and a joint pledge to work for the county’s good. The public notice quotes Hodgson and Holman affirming their esteem and mutual accountability, plus a local ad for produce at Arnold & Abney.
The Episcopal diocese of Atlanta will meet next year on the fourth Wednesday in May in this city. Rev. Troy Beatty and Mr. T. H. Nickerson returned from Macon after attending the convention there. An invitation to host the convention here was extended and accepted by the leadership.

A benefit supper is held this evening at West End Baptist Church corner Boulevard and Hiawassee avenue to raise funds for furnishing the Phil athea and Baracca classes. Music by the S. M. C. band plus a program of songs and dances features students and the Glee Club. Proceeds go to furnish classrooms built last year.
Yesterday 160 plates were served with 125 to team workers and prominent citizens who joined for a good meal and to enjoy the event. Report continues on the last page.
