Excursion train from Athens to Oxford for the Emory University and Oxford game draws town and campus interest. About 150 university players plus a large crowd of ladies and children will travel, with a social run arranged and uniforms in university colors. Emory seeks to defend recent wins as both sides prepare amid practice and anticipation.

Dr Watts and Barrett discuss Georgia’s congressional appropriation for a new negro agricultural college. They expect to start operations Saturday and propose two thirds of the funds for white college and one third for the negro college, unless Secretary Noble objects. If denied, they will seek control of funds as other states have done.
Judge Richard H. Clarke sentenced three men for deliberate murder in open court. Charlie Ozburn, Elisha A Underwood, and George Washington were set to be hanged on June 26 July 3 and July 10. Fayette Dodd received a five year penitentiary term for manslaughter. Underwood may seek a new trial.

Cumberland Md May 12 Asbury Green colored who was sentenced to 21 years for an assault on Mrs Tolson was lynched at Centerville Md shortly after midnight. The community acted after Green escaped the death penalty and took the law into its own hands.

News arrives of the killing of Gus Drake near Nicholson last Sunday night after a singing at Mr Suddeths. He left with young men under whisky influence. No arrests have been made. A freight train of twenty cow cars derailed while descending Raton mountain west of here after air brakes failed. The engine and tender separated, several cars toppled from a two foot embankment, and about 360 cattle were killed. Brake man J M Karnes was among those hurt. Damages estimated at 25 000 dollars.
