States follow ruling on express routes in Georgia
Special to The Banner Atlanta May 6 formal notice filed with the Georgia railroad commission by Southeastern Express and American Railway Express directing strict compliance with the order that no change be made in the route and state regulations in effect prior to April 30. The issue centers on through routes and shortest routes for business crossing points served by one or both lines. Georgia, Florida, Alabama and Tennessee rail commissions echo the open route policy, maintaining through rates and routes as of April 30. Traffic Manager George H. Kerr states the Southeastern backs open routes and through rates, opposing monopolistic limitations. The American says it aims to avoid interrupting traffic on the most natural route.
