Georgia joined other states by approving the Prohibition amendment. The Senate ratified in four and a half minutes with two votes against. The House vote was 129 to 24 after a prolonged debate. A busy session is anticipated with plans to adjourn after July 4.

Col Clarence E Adams of Danielsville announces candidacy for the senate from the Thirtieth district. He is a University of Georgia graduate, lawyer, stock raiser, and farmer active in education and state agricultural interests with broad district backing.

Circle to Meet Saturday: the Missionary Circle of the First Methodist No 3, postponed earlier due to the W S S campaign, will gather Saturday at 5 pm with Mrs A H Davison on Prince avenue.
The Presbyterian missionary circle led by Mrs. E A Crawford will meet Friday at 11 30 am at the Misses Upson home on Prince avenue. Hon Thomas J Shackleford will make two speeches in the War Say ings campaign. He will address mill district workers at 10 in the morning and Townspeople in the high school auditorium at 2 p.m. Invitations came separately from two Commerce committees without mutual knowledge.
Mr WH J Simpson from Camp Shelby is installed as army secretary of the Y M C A at the University of Georgia Training Detachment. He will provide regular service to trainees and bring expert organization. Ath ens detachment uses Y M C A building and facilities for soldiers with reading rooms game rooms gym bath and pool.

Dr. W. W. Brown reports his five passenger Ford touring car stolen yesterday afternoon from near the Laundry building. The theft occurred around 6:30 PM, with officers and the public on the lookout for the thief.
Rome reports the coming Fourth of July will be proclaimed an Italian national holiday with celebrations nationwide. Cities and villages decorate with American and Italian flags and Florence will grant citizenship to President Wilson on the day.

Mrs. William Cummings Story former director general of the Daughters of the American Revolution was arrested on grand and petty larceny and conspiracy charges tied to the national relief society where she serves as president. She is held on parole with a hearing set for tomorrow. Her two sons Allen Story an army lieutenant and Sterling Story in government service at Washington are indicted with her.
Washington June 26 Final arrangements for consideration tomorrow by the senate of the house resolution proposing the submission of the woman suffrage amendment to the federal constitution were completed today. Some senators said the disposition of the twelve billion dollar army measure and the pairing of senators for and against the resolutions might force a vote until Friday.
