William Rockefeller, one of America's wealthiest men, dies of pneumonia at age eighty one. The prominent financier left a vast fortune and ran major industrial holdings. His death ends a long era of business leadership and philanthropy.
The Younger brother of John D Rockefeller, William Rockefeller, died at his North Tarrytown estate after pneumonia and kidney trouble. He was 81. The mausoleum begun a year earlier on the estate will house him and his wife. He and John D Rockefeller visited Richford and Tioga County recently, renewing boyhood memories before returning to manage affairs at the estate. Final rites planned with burial in Sleepy Hollow.
The McClusky case involving Asbury McClusky, colored, and defendants Mathew Stinchcomb, Guy Thurmann, Jim Johnson and Ben Wall, plus Barrow County figures, continued after lengthy hearings. A $50,000 damages suit and a restraining order were at issue, with attorney Arnold proposing fifty men to guarantee protection, to be approved by Judge Fortson.
Clarke county delegation heads to Atlanta for the opening of the legislature with no major local registrations expected. Local bill debates loom over county commission elections by grand jury while educational appropriations face boosts to fund Athens institutions amid alumni fundraising. Atlanta speech by A C Blalock, Republican candidate for Commissioner of Agriculture, accuses J J Brown and aides of running a political machine, employing hundreds of “useless officials,” diverting state funds, and hiring allies to canvass support. He cites alleged inflated salaries and expense accounts to bolster Brown’s reelection efforts.

University Y W C A girls led by Miss Kathrine Lumpkin plan to convert the University Y M C A building into a community center for summer activities. They request old chairs and tables to borrow for six weeks of summer school and appeal for offers, with Miss Marguerite Beale at the Woman’s building ready to receive donations.
Dr. Howard A. Kelley spent a busy Saturday at Athens General Hospital performing two major operations and directing clinics after attending a Friday banquet with local doctors. He lauded the hospital as exceptionally equipped and praised the nursing staff while praising Georgia hospitality during the first anniversary celebration before departing for Baltimore.
Washington reports an appropriation of 7.5 million dollars for Muscle Shoals dam work authorized by the House but with a proviso delaying expenditure until October. Debates centered on Ford's offer and timing, with parties split on approving the Fat bid and delaying the dam project amid legislative gridlock.
Mrs Joan Wise McGregor aged 75 died at a local hospital after a prolonged illness at 11 45 Saturday night. Funeral services will be held at her residence in Oakland cemetery Atlanta Monday at 11 am conducted by Rev J C Wilkinson of Athens. Pallbearers listed include M G Michael W M McPherson A L Zachery Ralph Zachery and Gaughey with honorary pallbearers named. Surviving are a daughter Miss Jessie McGregor and a granddaughter Joan Wise McGregor.
