Unusual Accident Befalls Allen Fleming Jr
Yesterday around noon Allen Fleming Jr son of Mr and Mrs A Fleming of Meigs Street employed at the afternoon paper suffered a severe forearm burn after a blank cartridge exploded in a paper sack near Jardine Place. He narrowly avoided eye injury by shielding his face with his hand. Schoolboys had placed the explosive and ran off a distance. the fire died then relit when Fleming passed two hours later.

Policeman Arrested Twice in One Day Not An Athens Policeman
A non Athens police officer was arrested twice in twelve hours for drunk and disorderly conduct. He first wore a false chief’s badge and was jailed in the Athens city hall vault, released after a mineral substance was logged as evidence. Later he was found at a church fence, woozy and gripping iron bars as if in custody, pleading to be released.
