Spoke and Handle Factory Secured for City of Athens
Through the chamber of commerce secretary Mr Haselton a new industry lands in Athens a factory to employ thirty to fifty workers. It will make shovel handles and spokes for automobile wheels using ash and hickory timber. Head of the enterprise is Mr Clay Hannas who has operated similar plants in Macon. A contract with Mr R C Campbell of the Georgia Railroad secures a spur line location on Barber street with seven acres and two acres leased for the new building. Construction will begin soon and production will serve implement and vehicle concerns.
