Doubt Expressed In A A Rate Case At Augusta Ga
Athinta Ga June 8 There is admitted doubt among state railroad commission attaches about how the federal court contest on the Augusta Aiken Railway and Electric rate order will end The commission previously declined to allow further advances in power and lighting rates and to raise trolley fares from seven to ten cents There is confidence the court will side with the commission on light and power rates which are challenged as confiscatory The tense issue hinges on the commission's 9 000 000 valuation of the properties For trolley rates anxiety exists since the court refused to let Augusta city attorneys and other locals intervene or submit evidence of poor service A ruling may permit a ten cent trolley rate in Augusta It is unclear when the decision will come as arguments are complete and the case is under advisement
