Bannerman wandered into Mr C A Scudder's store yesterday drawn by gleam of silver and glass. The shop showcases sterling items and new rock crystal glass with artful tapestry novelties. June brides are expected to admire the delicate, elegant wares as visitors savor the shop’s refined display.
Night program at the Piedmont hotel includes a Sunday 11 p.m. baccalaureate sermon by Dr. M. Ashby Jones and a p.m. vesper service in the auditorium. Class day features 3 p.m. annual exhibit of shops and mill, 5 15 p.m. freshman oratorical contest and Glee club contest, 9 20 p.m. junior prom. Events at the Grand opera house include onset exercises. Also references sliced breakfast bacon and Arnold & Abney grocery items.
The regular monthly meeting of the mayor and council was held last night but due to appeal case trials the regular order of business was dispensed with until Monday evening. The appeal docket was called and cases for Porter Culp Fitzpatrick Wood and Smith were carried over. Tom Moody was tried for keeping whisky for sale and Col Erwin reimposed a 200 dollar fine or six months on the streets. Certiorari notice to the superior court will be taken up, and a date for trial of all appeal cases will be set for Monday evening.

Special to the Banner from Atlanta dated June 6 reports a political surprise as T. G. Hudson announces withdrawal from the gubernatorial race. He cites financial limits and lack of support from T. B. Watson, saying Watson would not back him and would instead fight him. Hudson thanks supporters across the state.
Gov Joseph Brown decided Georgia has no tenable grounds to sue the Georgia Railway and Power Company for Tallulah Falls water power. He cites official AG opinion that the state did not reserve lands in 1818 grants and could not recover if suit began. It remains unclear if the Tallulah Falls Conservation Association will continue the fight led by Mrs Helen D Longstreet.
Dr. E C Branson former president of the State Normal School departs for Washington City and New York to discuss rural life plans with federal education leaders He will address rural life groups and has written brochures on the school as a bulwark of country life and church roles in rural life efforts He is invited to major rural life conferences and lectures at Charlottesville Columbia University and Demorest today and in coming weeks

The effort aims to reduce disease, protect children and the elderly, and educate the community about insect dangers. Washington Georgia June 6 residents backed Brinson railroad plans by subscribing about half the needed 100000 to assure building from the Georgia railroad line to Washington. Brinsons line already runs Waynesboro to Savannah, with freight rate cuts and a potential extension by Gainesville Midland discussed. a chamber committee will survey Wilkes County and nearby areas for support and routes.
