Two Athens youth will represent the Athens City Union of Baraca-Philathea at the national Nash ville meeting. The local union will pay their expenses. Delegates were chosen at the monthly Oconee street Methodist church meeting, which drew strong attendance and featured a Rev. J. D. McPhail address and a fine musical program. A banner prize incentives attendance, with the Oconee street Philathea class winning the banner at 15 percent attendance for its first meeting under the new system.

Three jailed for murder at Belton report
Three men, Miller and two Hanfords, are in Hall county jail Gainesville charged with the murder of Arthur Hawkins. An inquest found evidence for arrest. Hawkins, a Bellton teacher and farmer, was found shot in a road two miles from Belton. his mule returned without him.

Little Babe Buried Yesterday in Oconee Cemetery
Funeral and burial were held Sunday afternoon for the infant of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Cooper. The death occurred Saturday night at the Barrett street home. Rev. Dr. J. W. Lynch led services, and the baby was laid to rest in Oconee cemetery as friends offered support. Visitors joined class members from Tabernacle Baptist and West End Baptist churches.

Macon Georgia June 2 Colonel W A Huff former mayor of Macon was found guilty of contempt of court for writing pointed letters to Judge Emory Speer about a bankruptcy case Huff 82 expressed no intent to attack the judiciary saying he wrote to inform the judge of his views and would accept any punishment.

After half an hour in the water the boys watched an indoor baseball game upstairs and then returned to the pool for another thirty minutes. Lightning Flash Destroys Davis Livestock in Clarke County
Yesterday afternoon a cloud flash struck Mr. N R Davis of Puryear district wrecking $900 in livestock. A pair of young mules recently bought and valued at $600 were killed. A fine brood mare worth $250 died. A second mare and colt were shocked but may recover. The animals sheltered in a neighbor’s building when the bolt hit, demolishing the shelter but not the nearby barn.
