Brinson Railway to Link Athens and Savannah Statewide

Savannah based Brinson Railway company secures charter to take over Savannah Valley line and build a direct Savannah to Athens route. Officials say 500 workers are grading as the project advances toward Effingham Thorpe Clarke counties with potential stops at Springfield Sylvania Waynesboro and Louisville. Promoters include George M Brinson Y Bargeron W C Myers and others with New York investors involved. The case before Judge Hines returns July 5 for further action.

Kesler of North Carolina spoke on Korea and Mrs. Coit of the Nacochee Institute gave an address on education in the mission field. Clarke County Gamble case postponed hearings in injunction

The Clarke County case against John B. Gamble, former clerk of the county roads and revenues board, was continued to next Wednesday. A temporary injunction forbids Gamble from handling the books and papers of the county commissioners’ office while Col. J. J. Strickland represents Cobb & Erwin for Gamble.

Judge H Cerwin presided in the Athens city court over Peeler vs City of Athens as witnesses were examined all day. The case was continued to this morning with the expectation of a jury verdict this afternoon. Judge West was disqualified and Howell C Exwitt stood in.
