Kirby Lumber receivership ends in Houston

Nashville July 14 The removal of the Kirby Lumber Company receivership ends a long federal supervision. Judge Walter T. Burns attached his name to the documents on July 2, turning over the properties after Kirby’s sale of nearly two million dollars’ worth of stock and mortgage to J. R. Chapman of Chicago. Receivers Rice and Lyon leave the company in good condition with liabilities to be paid, except for some bonds. The article also reports on Interstate Commerce Commission actions regarding the Tift agreement, Yellow Pine claims, and tariff discussions affecting lumber imports, plus Harvard forestry appointee Austin Cary becoming New York State Forests Superintendent and a Seattle meeting of the National Lumber Manufacturers Association at the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition.
