A Georgia history sketch boycotted by some readers
Larry Gantt recalls the private history surrounding a governor’s volume titled Fist Settlers of Georgia. The piece notes suppression forces, selective preservation, and the book’s survival in a few families and libraries. It also describes early Lexington burial grounds tied to Gilmer and Crowder sites, and hints at 18th century frontier politics between Clark and Crawford.
