Tonight at the Lyric a special program features Mr. and Mrs. DeGoote in A Would-be Champion An Unexpected Arrival and Stung with the Colonial orchestra providing music. The Lyric Company and a vaudeville troupe join to boost aid for a couple with no money or friends in a strange city.
The Colonial Orchestra with two southern stars performs Friday afternoon at Costa’s Cafe. Percy Lynn directs with Emil Walters first violin. Clyde Burch piano. Bob Dottery cornet. Henry Culp trombone. John Morris bass. Geo Goodale drums and bells. M Paull cello. Kart Carston clarinet. Orpheum Theater Atlanta.

The daughter of Rev and Mrs Troy Beatty Mis Mayhew Beatty broke an arm yesterday afternoon after slipping on the sidewalk while skating with companions. A. L. Harper, a long prominent local businessman and veteran citizen, died yesterday morning at 7 at St Marys Hospital Athens after a long illness. He will be buried at 11 this morning at his old home in Bogart. He leaves four sons and five daughters and had hundreds of friends across the region.

Mr Marion M Arnold left Tuesday for Richmond to undergo an operation for appendicitis. News arrived that he reached the city and would enter a hospital this week. Friends in this city wish him a successful operation and a speedy recovery.
Friends of Harvey Smith of the Baller Tool Company report he is confined to his father’s home with appendicitis, doctors saying the illness is pronounced.
The Glee Club rivalry shows the tenors as the heavier section with the “sawed offs” hidden. Bass members retort that the club’s good looks were behind the tenors. A tenor quips the audience stayed because they could not see that row.
Protracted revival services at West End Baptist Church led by Rev. A J Smith will continue all week with two services daily. Evangelist C G Smith delivers sermons that draw large attentive congregations and prompt reflection on a better life.
The Banner reports Capt. R. J. Felton of the Athens police lost a fountain pen. The pen was reportedly left in the lobby of the Georgia National Bank or on a desk at the National Bank of Athens. The officer will appreciate its return.

The competition to select anniversarians for commencement will occur Saturday afternoon. Phi Kappa members include Evans V. Heath T. J. Wooster J. P. Jones J. L. Deadwyler and Howell Brooks, while Demosthenian participants are J. R. Powell Millard Lewis and J. M. West.

Dr E S Lyndon a Burns speaker returns from Atlanta where he attended the Burns Club anniversary and helped dedicate a Burns Club house replica of Burns's home. He is an Athens member who spoke at the program.
A called meeting of the North Georgia Agricultural College board of trustees was held at the Arlington hotel in Gainesville. Members present included R. H. Baker H. D. Curley A. J. Cavendar Howard Thompson A. S. Hardy W. B. McCants J. P. Cheney and Harry Hodgson. Winder and Dahlonega ties noted. McCants elected president until June. Plans outlined to advance the college at Dahlonega.
The Glee Club will perform Simper Perkins composition Sing Oh Heavens on Friday night. The piece is described as extremely difficult and capable of lifting performers out of their seats.
The thirty-ninth annual session of the Arkansas Conference of the Methodist Episcopal church opened in Fort Smith with large clergy and lay attendance. Bishop Quayle of Oklahoma City presides as prominent church leaders from outside the state join the gathering.
