Stockholders plan to organize the new laundry company at a city hall meeting Thursday at four. Almost all stock is subscribed and officers will be elected. After charter approval, the plant will be erected and operations begin soon.
Four men faced Mayor Rhodes for disorderly conduct after drinking. Tom Hill Luther Allen Will Phinizy each fined 6 25 and Pig Paine 2 50. The notice also touts Electric Bitters as a malaria cure and tonic.
M H Skalowski sues Mutual Life and Industrial Association of Georgia for 1500 dollars alleging damages after electric lights were cut to rewire the building during a holiday period. John A Darwin, secretary and general manager of the company, defends that he gave ample notice of the planned lighting change while moving the hall above Skalowski’s cafe.
County commissioners will begin permanent road macadamizing as soon as winter weather ends. Machinery is ready and the road construction superintendent has men prepared to start once conditions are suitable. Work has been ongoing to surface roads in good condition, with initial permanent improvements expected first on the road from city limits to Jefferson, then extended across the county. Significant permanent work is anticipated this year.
